Services and Tools

While there are a variety of generative AI tools publicly available and can generally be used by university faculty and staff in compliance with privacy, security, and procurement guidelines, the Gen AI Solutions Hub will be evaluating and recommending specific tools for campus use. These tools will be available on this page as they are evaluated and approved.

Microsoft Teams Premium

Teams Premium is an add-on license that enhances the standard Microsoft Teams experience by providing advanced features like AI meeting recaps, personalized branding options, advanced webinar capabilities, virtual appointment scheduling, and increased security controls.

Zoom AI

Zoom AI Companion is available to all campus users with a Zoom license, including the following features: ask questions, meeting notes, and smart recording.

Microsoft Copilot with Data Protection (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise)

Microsoft Copilot with Data Protection, an AI-powered platform designed and created specifically for organizations, is now available for Illinois faculty and staff with an A5 Microsoft 365 License. Previously branded Bing Chat Enterprise (BCE), Copilot with Data Protection ensures that organizational data is protected against threats. In its current version, chat data is not saved, chat data will not be available in any capacity to Microsoft or other large language models to train their AI tools against, and third-party integrations are not allowed. Copilot with Data Protection cites its generated content with verifiable citations and has access to current internet data.

Coming Soon!

The Generative AI Solutions Hub and Office of the CIO are currently in procurement negotiations to bring both Microsoft 365 Copilot and Open AI Chat GPT for Education to Webstore. These products are expected to be available for individual purchase in Spring 2025.

We are also in the process of implementing a one-year pilot project to bring Github Copilot to campus developers.
