While there are a variety of generative AI tools publicly available and can generally be used by university faculty and staff in compliance with privacy, security, and procurement guidelines, the Gen AI Solutions Hub will be evaluating and recommending specific tools for campus use. Microsoft Copilot with Data Protection (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise)

Microsoft Copilot with Data Protection, an AI-powered platform designed and created specifically for organizations, is now available for Illinois faculty and staff with an A5 Microsoft 365 License. Previously branded Bing Chat Enterprise (BCE), Copilot with Data Protection ensures that organizational data is protected against threats. In its current version, chat data is not saved, chat data will not be available in any capacity to Microsoft or other large language models to train their AI tools against, and third-party integrations are not allowed. Copilot with Data Protection cites its generated content with verifiable citations and has access to current internet data.
